GTS Central Europe (GTS), a leading infrastructure-based provider of integrated telecommunications and data center services in Central and Eastern Europe, was awarded prestigious industry awards in two out of four categories at the MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum): ”Best Wholesale Ethernet Service” and “Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application”. These awards, presented last week at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Barcelona, highlights GTS’ leadership in the development and delivery of Carrier Ethernet services in the EMEA region and shows the strength of its suite of Ethernet products.
"This is a great achievement, which proves our ability to seize market momentum and demonstrate our strong execution skills. Over the past year, the number of Ethernet access lines delivered and wholesale Ethernet NNIs has been doubled. We are happy to see that the combination of our Ethernet service portfolio, including MEF certified E-Line, E-VPN, Media Line and E-NNIs meets our ever growing customer's needs for top quality, high speed connectivity in Central and Eastern Europe"- said Artur Ostrowski, SVP of Customer Solutions, GTS.
The Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application was presented for Ethernet solutions delivered to the Slovakia Broadcast and Television company. The fully managed Ethernet Media Line supported the broadcast of the 2011 IIHF World Championship tournament. The solution was implemented based on GTS's own optical network with special redundancy ensuring no interruption of video signal.
The Best Wholesale Ethernet Service award recognizes GTS' effort in extending Ethernet Services availability and reach within the region. Among recent GTS' developments are Ethernet service upgrades up to 40GbE throughout GTS's extensive network footprint and 100GbE on selected routes. The company's Ethernet expansion to new markets resulted in offering Ethernet services in nine additional central and eastern European countries, and was followed by the GTS membership in the Ethernet Exchanges ancotel and Equinix in Frankfurt.
"GTS, with its leading edge, end-to-end Carrier Ethernet platform, has played a major role in shaping Ethernet business in the EMEA region" - commented Nan Chen, MEF's President. He added: "The MEF is please to recognize GTS's commitment in accelerating the adoption of Carrier Ethernet services and we look forward to seeing future GTS' developments in this area".
